After a very successful 10 years of The One Show, it was time for a technology refresh in Studio V at London Broadcasting House.
There was only the short 3-week summer break to renew the systems, the BBC turned to VSC Design with its proven track record of fast delivery.

This has been described as the biggest expansion in the World Service since the 1940s. As part of this expansion there was a requirement for a new studio at BBC New Broadcasting House in central London and after a competitive tender process VSC were awarded the contract to build the new Studio K.
Download PDF Video LinkVSC have been working with BT since 2006 and in that time have completed many projects, mainly at the BT Tower in London. These have included the Tower Post Production facilities and the Disaster Recovery facilities for BT Sport, along with BT Sports Service Monitoring Centre. In 2011 VSC installed BT’s core routing switcher responsible for switching the vision circuits for all BT’s customers. In March 2014 VSC were awarded the contract to rebuild the International Media Centre (IMC) BT’s Central Service Monitoring Hub. This was a high profile and business critical project which was awarded to VSC after a tender process which included a number of SI specialists. Since successfully delivering the IMC project VSC continues to develop the Sports Monitoring Facilities for BT.

Download PDF Video LinkTo enable the BBC relaunch both BBC Arabic and BBC Persian in high definition, complete refits were required to their on-air studios and infrastructure. VSC Design were awarded the contract to design and build the two new HD television studios required at New Broadcasting House, London, Studios 34D and 54D.
When TV Zimbo first went on air in Angola in 2008 it became the countries first independently owned broadcaster. Prior to the launch VSC provided a fully integrated turnkey solution for TV Zimbo which included two SD News Studios and a 6 camera production studio, newsroom and post production facilities. In 2013 TV Zimbo embarked on a major upgrade and expansion which included a new HD newsroom, two new HD news studios, edit suits and a two channel 24/7 playout solution. As well as providing a turnkey technical solution for this major upgrade VSC provide continuing post installation support for TV Zimbo.

Shed Media are part of the Warner Bros. organization and now the company’s flagship post production facility.

Video LinkIn 2012 Oracle were looking for a Systems Integration partner for their new digital media studio project at their headquarters in Reading, UK. After a tender process which included a number of Systems Integrators, VSC were awarded the contract. VSC provided a complete turnkey solution for Oracle which included a four camera HD studio, gallery and editing facilities. VSC are contracted to provide on-going technical support for the facilities.

Video LinkIn 2013 VSC Design were awarded the contract to provide the systems integration for the upgrade of Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) facilities in Kampala, Uganda. Uganda Broadcasting Corporation is Uganda’s state broadcaster and was formed in 2005 from the former Uganda Television and Uganda Radio Corporations.

In January 2014 VSC were awarded the contract to build two clip studios for the World Service at the BBC’s New Broadcasting House in London, W1. The studios incorporate most of the elements found in the BBC’s network studios; Snell Kahuna Vision Mixers, Vizrt Graphics, Mosart Automation, Quantel Servers, Shotoku Robotics and Studer Audio Mixers. VSC have cemented our relationship with the BBC being awarded further contracts to integrate 9 additional Vizrt Graphics Engines into the NBH pool as well as upgrading the BBC Parliament DR facilities to HD.
Download PDF Video LinkIn 2010 the Financial Times (FT) awarded VSC the contract to, design, build and project manage the installation of their new video studio. VSC were responsible for the overall project management, including the civil and M&E works, adopting PRINCE2® principles throughout the process. The studio is installed at the riverside end of the FT’s headquarters providing fantastic views of St. Paul’s Cathedral, the River Thames and City of London skyline. Its importance was denoted by the new facility being officially opened by Jean-Claude Trichet, President of The European Central Bank. VSC provide on-going technical support for the FT.
“What surprised me was the huge amount of work involved before anything was bought. VSC’s job included a lot of planning for what would be needed along with the use of a lot of imagination”.
“The re-build at Teddington allowed us to check the kit and the ergonomics of the console and to allow the wiring looms to be created off site rather than cluttering up the studio site. It was much more efficient. But then we have worked with VSC Design before and we know them to be very professional”.
Download PDF Video LinkWhen Lisbon based Portuguese economic news media company Diário Económico were looking for a Systems Integrator with experience in designing tapeless systems they turned to VSC. Económico TV were particularly interested in VSC’s experience and track record in delivering tapeless solutions. As part of the installation, VSC delivered an Octopus Newsroom system, Apple XServe Storage SAN and an Atempo ADA Archiving Solution. The system is based on the Building4Media FORK production software suite. The production facilities include two HD studios which utilise the FORK Live assist system for full integration with the automation system.
"We chose VSC Design for their proven work in systems integration and in particular delivering tapeless workflows. We needed an independent consultancy to supervise all third party manufacturers and suppliers. Our time schedule was quite ambitious as we started the project in May and wanted it delivered in September. We can say it was a good decision to involve VSC."
